"A Country could not progress in a desired direction until the student youth were motivated to work for the upliftment of the villages/communities."
National Service Scheme is an ideal value based programme for student youth. This programme was envisaged to accomplish our father of nation Mahatma Gandhiji’s long cherished desire of involving the youth in National building process.
Motto:
The motto of the National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) is "Not Me, But You", This expresses the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless services and appreciation of another man's point of view and also show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole. Therefore it should be the aim of the N.S.S. to demonstrate this motto in its day-to-day activities.
Aim:
This programme is to inculcate the social welfare thoughts in the students, and to provide service to the society without any prejudice. NSS volunteers work hard day and night to ensure that every one in our society who is needy gets the every possible help from them so that they can also enhance their standards and lead a life of dignity in the society with all of us. In doing so, the volunteers themselves learn a lot from the people in villages like how to struggle and how to lead a happy life in the extreme scarcity of resources and so on.

With the above objectives, the National Service Scheme (NSS) launched in CSI DEGREE COLLEGE in the year 1994 with a meager strength(100 Volunteers) and now growing into an organization with a total 2 units. It has been active ever since its inception in matters of social and community service and rural reconstruction activities and won laurels from all quarters. The Programme officers and Volunteers are actively participating in constructive and productive community programmes, various awareness drives, Shramadan, Social reforms, Communal Harmony, Blood donation, Environmental protection ,Literacy programmes, Health education campaign etc. A main objective of this scheme is personality development of the students through community service. Through NSS, the sensitization about social responsibility and national integration among the students community have been achieved to a large extent. This scheme has also proved in reducing the distance between academic institutions and communities. |
